VVA dienste bring hoop vir ouer persone in die Vrystaat | FCIA services bring hope to older persons in the Free State

Vrystaat-Versorging in Aksie se dienste aan ouer persone is gebaseer op die beginsels vervat in die Nasionale Plan van Aksie vir Ouer Persone, sowel as die huidige regeringsbeleid.  Dienste fokus hoofsaaklik op:

  • Ouer Persone en Ontwikkeling
  • Bevordering van die gesondheid en welsyn van ouerwordende persone
  • Skep van ‘n ondersteunende omgewing
  • Die beskerming van ouer persone
  • Residensiële fasiliteite vir ouer persone

Vrystaat-Versorging in Aksie ondersteun hierdie uitgangspunt en die instansie se strewe is dus om, deur bekostigbare en toeganklike dienste, ouer persone te bemagtig en te ondersteun om so lank as moontlik ‘n aktiewe en konstruktiewe bydrae tot die gemeenskap te lewer. Die skep van ‘n omgewing waar die ouer persoon kwaliteit lewe tot aan die einde kan geniet.

Die Wet Op Ouer Persone, Wet 13 van 2006, maak voorsiening vir die daarstel van riglyne tov die minimum standaarde waaraan dienste moet voldoen. Die riglyne word volledig in die regulasies uiteengesit met die doel om:

  • Kwaliteit dienslewering te verseker
  • Doelwitte te stel waarbinne dienste gelewer moet word.
  • Praktiese riglyne te voorsien waarbinne die basiese dienste gelewer word
  • Dit verseker ook eenvormigheid wat monitoring en evaluering moontlik maak.
  • Die riglyne verseker ook dat daar uitvoering gegee word aan die bedoeling van die wet.
  • Dit voorsien ook ‘n raamwerk vir opleiding.

Dienste aan ouer persone word op 2 vlakke gelewer, naamlik gemeenskap-gebaseerde ondersteuningsdienste en residensiële versorgingsdienste. Die doel van gemeenskap-gebaseerde ondersteuningsdienste is om ouer persone in die gemeenskap die geleentheid te bied om deur middel van ondersteuningsdienste so lank as moontlik binne die gemeenskap suksesvol te laat bly. Residensiële versorging behels die volgende:

    • 24 uur versorging
    • Rehabilitasie
    • “Respite” sorg
    • Dagsorg
    • Opleiding van versorgers
    • Tuisversorging en ondersteuning aan families wat ouer persone versorg
    • Voortdurende kontak met die breër gemeenskap

 Vrystaat-versorging in Aksie lewer tans dienste aan ouer persone regoor die Vrystaat provinsie.  Die organisasie beskik tans oor:

  • 12 residensiële fasiliteite
  • 21 behusingseenhede
  • 8 dienssentrums.

Free State Care in Action’s services to the elderly are based on the principles contained in the National Plan of Action for Older Persons, as well as current government policy. Services mainly focus on:

  • Elderly Persons and Development
  • Promoting the health and well-being of the elderly
  • Creating a supportive environment
  • The protection of the elderly
  • Residential facilities for the elderly

Free State Care in Action supports this premise and the institution’s aim is therefore to, through affordable and accessible services, empower and support older persons to make an active and constructive contribution to the community for as long as possible. Creating an environment where the elderly can enjoy quality life until the end.

The Older Persons Act, Act 13 of 2006, provides for the establishment of guidelines regarding the minimum standards that services must meet. The guidelines are set out in full in the regulations with the aim of:

  • To ensure quality service delivery
  • Set goals within which services must be delivered.
  • Provide practical guidelines within which the basic services are delivered
  • It also ensures uniformity which enables monitoring and evaluation.
  • The guidelines also ensure that the intent of the law is implemented.
  • It also provides a framework for training.

Services to the elderly are provided at 2 levels, namely community-based support services and residential care services. The aim of community-based support services is to offer the elderly in the community the opportunity to successfully remain in the community for as long as possible through support services. Residential care involves the following:

o 24 hour care

o Rehabilitation

o “Respite” care

o Day care

o Training of caregivers

o Home care and support for families caring for older persons

o Continuous contact with the wider community

Free State Care in Action currently provides services to the elderly throughout the Free State province. The organization currently has:

 12 residential facilities

 21 housing units

 8 service centers.
